Councillor Steve Jarvis, Leader of Hertfordshire County Council and Chair of Hertfordshire Growth Board said:
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of Adrian Hawkins OBE. As Chair of Hertfordshire Futures, a member of the Hertfordshire Growth Board, and in his many other roles, Adrian brought energy, vision and a deep belief in the strengths and potential of our county.
“Adrian was born and bred in Hertfordshire and made an extraordinary contribution to the place he loved over many years. He was a hugely successful businessman and gave his time voluntarily to support others. Adrian played a leading role in securing investment, supporting skills and employment initiatives, and promoting Hertfordshire as a place where people, communities and businesses can succeed.
“He was a passionate advocate for partnership working and was widely respected not only for his achievements, but also for his generosity, enthusiasm and determination to make a positive difference. His recent Honorary Doctorate from the University of Hertfordshire was a fitting recognition of his work and he leaves a lasting legacy that will be felt for generations.
“On behalf of Hertfordshire County Council and the Growth Board, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Adrian’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
